Green building, residential retrofits, weatherization, and sustainable housing have become important buzz words in the housing rehabilitation and construction vernacular. Jobs in these categories have been dubbed part of the new green economy and are expected to increase as the demand for more energy efficient buildings increases. The Office of Community Conservation has established a Green Building Program to foster the use of green and sustainable building practices in rehabilitation and new construction of housing. These practices promote energy efficiency, water conservation and improved indoor air quality.

To learn more about this program , the Office of Community Conservation is sponsoring an event at Oregon Ridge Lodge. Registration is required and can be completed online at: www.baltimorecountymd.gov/greenbldg (seating is limited). If you have any questions about this event please contact Liz Glenn at 410.887.3124 and reference "Green Building Program."

  1. I agree that the green economy boast huge potential for the future and it is obvious that collaboration will be key to rebuilding our footing in the global marketplace. Take the site http://www.greencollareconomy.com for instance. It has a plethora of case studies and white papers that demonstrate how green businesses can thrive in the 21st century. The site also has a directory of thousands of companies who have embraced eco-friendly practices and are adding green collar jobs as a result. In this time of great environmental and economic turmoil, the green collar economy must emerge as the next great American enterprise. I suggest readers visit to learn more.
