PROCUREMENT-WASTE WATER TREATMENT- MARCH 12

THURMONT WASTEWATER TREATMENT ENR UPGRADE

ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING:

CONCRETE AND SOILS TESTING

Stearns & Wheler GHD, an environmental engineering consulting firm located in Bowie, Maryland, is seeking qualified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises capable of completing concrete testing, soils testing and special inspections required to construct the Enhanced Nutrient Removal (ENR) Upgrade at the 1.0 mgd Thurmont Wastewater Treatment Plant in Thurmont, MD.



The construction cost is approximately $6.25 million. The Contractor NTP is anticipated by June 15, 2010 and construction duration is anticipated to last 18 months. Included in the scope of services for this project is sampling and testing for cast-in-place concrete, soils compaction testing and special inspections. The total estimated concrete quantity for this project is approximately 1,000 cubic yards based on the construction of the following structures:



4 Methanol Storage Area

4 Chemical Storage Area

4 Denitrification Filters

4 Chemical Building

4 Concrete sidewalks

4 Various exterior equipment pads



The following Scope of Services for cast-in-place concrete testing shall include, but is not limited, to the following:

1. Field testing of fresh concrete used for the project including temperature, slump, air content, unit weight, water/cement ratio based on recordation tickets provided by the concrete supplier and molding of compressive strength cylinders.

2. Transportation, laboratory curing and compression testing of concrete cylinders.

3. Submission of field and laboratory reports.



The following Scope of Services for compaction testing shall include, but is not limited, to the following:

1. Under each structure.

2. For trench backfill placed.

3. For pavement placed.

4. At location of new walkways.

5. At fill or backfill locations.



Special Inspections shall be required for the following structures:

4 Chemical Building

4 Denitrification Filters

4 Chemical Storage Area

4 Methanol Storage Area



The following Scope of Services for Special Inspections shall include, but is not limited, to the following:

1. Keep records of all inspections and furnish inspection reports including a final report to the Building Official and the Registered Design Professional in Responsible Charge.
